India win toss, bat in Kochi

India won the toss and elected to bat in their second one-day international against England in a very hot Kochi on Tuesday.

Live Scoring: India v England

India have included Shami Ahmed for Ashok Dinda.

Their captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, said at the toss the climate would test the fitness of the players.

"It will slow down slightly. The pitch looks very different, it won't have the same kind of bounce and the black soil has a tendency of slowing down."

England have had to replaced Tim Bresnan - who suffers from a slight niggle - with Chris Woakes.

The capacity crowd of more than 60 000, pleased visitors' captain, Alastair Cook: "Incredible atmosphere here. This is the reason you want to play cricket, great crowds and great atmosphere."

The Nehru Stadium is the biggest stadium in India, with giant floodlight pylons arching over the ground and multi-tiered stands.
