Best Kids Parties: Pink & Yellow My Party | Apartment Therapy

Name: Mia (1)
Location: Austin, TX

The inspiration for my daughter's party were the colors pink and yellow. I had originally not even planned to decorate due to the fact that her party was only a month after I gave birth to her little sister. I thought I would be too busy. But then the day before her birthday came and I found some extra time to scrounge up some last minute decorations.

Everything was DIY made from items I already had. I gathered up every pink and yellow item in my home and threw them together. Pink furniture, pink vases, yellow flowers, etc. If it was pink or yellow, it went into the living room. I used some leftover fabric from her nursery to make the pennant banner, the flower on her suspenders and to fill the picture frames on the mantel. I made the cake stand by covering a 100 pack of CDs with the polka dot fabric. I used three small chalkboards on each of the 3 decorated tables to tie them all together with Mia's chalkboard wall in her room.

The best part about the party was that I only spent money on the cake and food. It definitely ended up being cuter than I thought it would be. And, cheaper.

Thanks Johanna! Readers, see more of Mia's beautiful party on Johanna's blog.
