60 Minute Strategic Plan, Inc. recently launched a web-based version of its proven strategic planning template. Were now in the cloud, says 60 Minute Strategic Plan CEO, John E. Johnson. We felt the time was right to develop an application that users can access from anywhere on any browser-enabled device and collaborate strategically with other planning team members.
Johnson, a consultant to small- and mid-sized business owners for 25 years, created the 60 Minute Strategic Plan template in 1997 in response to the needs of his clients. It quickly became clear to me that it is as vital for entrepreneurs to create strategic plans as it is for large corporations. But in his hunt for a planning tool he couldnt find one that suited their needs. It had to be quick, easy to learn and effective. The ones he found were cumbersome and required resources small business owners dont have to spare. In response, Johnson created a one-page, 12-step template that takes under an hour to complete for any strategic issue large or small. Over time, Johnson refined the process and began giving 60 Minute Strategic Plan workshops all over the world. Since then, the 60 Minute Strategic Plan book, published in 2006, has become a top-ten strategic planning book on Amazon.com and more than 10,000 business owners in hundreds of industries have used the 60 Minute Strategic Plan to solve their strategic business issues and have rated it 90 to 100 percent in usefulness and 100 percent have recommended it to others.
The companys new web-based application enables users to create plans quickly and easily using a step-by-step wizard, collaborate with other planning team members about each step in the process, assign strategic champions, tasks and due dates for each initiative, monitor and track a plans progress and completion, print out plans and reports, set up permissions for viewing, editing and plan administration and receive notifications about due dates and plan completion. The application also includes text and video tutorials that explain each step in the process.
We focused on including features that help the business owner with the toughest part of strategic planningimplementation, says 60 Minute Strategic Plan CTO, Boris Glants, and were looking to get feedback so we continually improve the application and introduce new functionality. For example, in the near future well be integrating it with calendaring applications such as Microsoft Outlook and leading ERP and CRM applications.
