06/18/2012 Thompson Hine's Washington Office Welcomes Construction and Government Contracts Partner

Overview

WASHINGTON?- June 18, 2012?- Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Lawrence?M. Prosen, who practices in the areas of construction litigation and government contracts. He joins the firm's Washington, D.C. office from K&L Gates LLP.

His addition falls on the heels of last month's announcement about a highly regarded team of transportation and international trade lawyers who joined the D.C. office?- Charles A. Hunnicutt, Brent Connor and Patricia N. Snyder.

Prosen, who holds a degree in architecture, represents some of the largest contractors and subcontractors in the nation in all aspects of litigation, including trials, arbitrations, mediations and administrative appeals in both the public or government contracting and private/commercial realms. He has extensive experience representing contractors in protests valued at up to $25 billion before many agencies, including the GAO, FAA's Office for Dispute Resolution in Acquisitions, United States Court of Federal Claims and at the state and local government levels. He represents prime contractors and subcontractors as well as sureties on payment and breach of contract, delay, impact, loss of productivity, change, geotechnical and differing site conditions claims and other contract disputes in both state and federal courts as well as the Court of Federal Claims and applicable boards of contract appeals.

"Larry's significant experience in both government contracts and construction litigation will benefit our clients, as his practice both complements and expands our existing construction practice," noted Jeffrey?R. Appelbaum, leader of the firm's construction practice. "His background makes him a tremendous resource to our clients who regularly deal with government agencies."

Prosen, who is ranked in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA, further strengthens Thompson Hine's construction group, which is nationally ranked in the guide.

In addition to his construction and government contracts practice, Prosen works on real estate projects and transactions involving the sale, purchase, leasing and construction of commercial, office, industrial and institutional buildings valued at up to and exceeding $250 million. He also has broad construction project experience that ranges from major bridges to energy generation and co-generation plants, international airports, historic monuments and national memorials. He has handled projects in 13 countries spanning four continents and 31 U.S. states.

"Thompson Hine's construction platform is well suited to meet the needs of my national and global clients," said Prosen of his decision to join the firm. "I was impressed with the firm's focus on client service and value, and I know my clients will benefit from the additional resources of my new partners in areas such as bankruptcy, tax, intellectual property, litigation and corporate transactions."

Thompson Hine's Washington office is well poised for growth, having moved several months ago to new office space at 1919 M Street NW after outgrowing its prior space. "We are pleased to welcome yet another top-notch lawyer to our Washington office as we continue to expand the services we offer our clients," said David A. Wilson, office partner-in-charge. "His strength in government contracts and construction litigation will greatly benefit many of our clients."

Prosen holds a J.D. from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and a B.S. in architecture and a B.A. in history from the University of Maryland at College Park.
