Canada Day party at FRHP

Grab your red and white clothes and anything sporting a maple leaf for Sunday?s Canada Day celebration at Fraser River Heritage Park.

Organized by the Mission Heritage Association and the District of Mission, the party gets started early, with a pancake breakfast running from 8:30 until 11:30 a.m. Partial proceeds from the meal benefit the Mission Optimist Club.

Crowd favourites such as the Matsqui Flyball and Agility Show (11 a.m., 1:15 and 3:30 p.m.) are returning, alongside the comedic antics, and exceptional skills, at the Mission Municipal Forest?s Loggers Show (11:30 a.m., 1:45 and 4 p.m.). Piper McKenzie is also putting on a comedy daredevil show (12:30, 2:45 and 5 p.m.)

Flag-raising ceremonies take place between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

A number of fun, family-friendly activities are happening throughout the day, including the Canadian Tire Kids Zone (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), that will feature pony rides, a bouncy train and castle, face painting, watermelon-eating contest, fish pond and more.

You can also take in gladiator jousting and a giant climbing wall from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., go to the photo booth, run the RCMP obstacle challenge, and Mission fire department?s junior firefighter challenge, learn to juggle and play games.

Tim Hortons is sponsoring the? music and entertainment between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., including a Mission?s Got Talent show, the Wee Wigglers, Fiddlin? Frenzy, Bhangra Dancers and more.

Northern Lights is putting on the day?s final event, a fireworks show, that starts at 10 p.m.
